New data from the U.S. Census Bureau finds that the poverty rate inched up in Minnesota while incomes fell. The data from the American Community Survey released Thursday shows that poverty rate increased from 11 percent in 2009 to 11.6 percent last year.
The U.S. Census Bureau releases its official population counts for the states this week, which will determine if Minnesota keeps its eight seats in Congress. And officials here think the Gopher State may just keep all 8.
The number of people living in poverty in the St. Cloud area has jumped. The Federal Government considers the poverty line to be $22,050 for a family of four.
