In our line of work we're constantly looking at advertising trends and marketing campaigns to see what's working and what's trending.  And K-Mart has been doing a great job at reinventing their image.

When I think of K-Mart I usually associate it with old, stale and lacking any sense fashion.  They're like Walmart's distant cousin who's not invited to the family function anymore.  I literally haven't  in a K-Mart for years, they are in serious need of reinventing their image to attract a younger audience who doesn't remember them from their childhood.

So, what do they do?  They come up one of the most juvenile ad campaigns we've ever seen.  "Ship My Pants" has gotten over 17 million Youtube views, which means millions more were talking about it.  They really only paid for the production costs for the ad which means they're getting a major bang for the buck and at the same time appealing to an entire new audience who may have never shopped their before.

Here's "Ship My Pants"

Now that they have found success with the formula, why not keep it going?  K-Mart's latest campaign in equally lowbrow, it's called "Big Gas Savings".  Get it?  I have to admit I have the sense of humor of a 6th grader so I found these both to be hilarious.

The beauty of the internet for advertisers is that they aren't under the same restraints as television, meaning they can take more risks.  I have no idea if this is going make a big difference  on K-Mart's bottom line, but they are certainly getting their name out to the viral audience.

Here's "Big Gas Savings".
