Becker Schools Shut Down Volunteer Program After Gun Discovered
BECKER -- Becker School District parents are being told about an incident where a volunteer allegedly brought a gun onto a school campus yesterday.
A letter sent home to parents outlines an incident where the grandparent of a student was volunteering on the primary school playground and tripped. Schools Superintendent Stephen Malone says a gun fell out of the volunteer's pocket.
The volunteer was issued a trespass notice not to return and police are investigating the incident for possible criminal charges.
The district has also suspended the use of non-parent volunteers while they review the screening procedures and background checks.
