Zimmerman Man Arrested After Allegedly Pulling Knife
FORT PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A Minnesota man was arrested after authorities say he pulled a knife and had to be restrained by a group of South Dakota lawmakers.
The incident happened Friday night at a bar inside the AmericInn Lodge and Suites in Fort Pierre, S.D. The lawmakers had gathered for a pheasant hunt to raise scholarship money for trips to legislative events.
Forty-one-year-old Mark Bardwell of Zimmerman, Minn., was arrested by sheriff's deputies.
Authorities say witnesses told them a man at the bar started acting erratically and grabbed South Dakota Rep. Kristin Conzet's arm. They say the man allegedly pulled a knife when House Speaker Val Rausch intervened.
Rep. David Lust convinced the man to sheath the knife.
