FOLEY – Today (Tuesday) we’re starting a new weekly series on WJON called “Your Town Tuesday”, highlighting the happenings in our area communities.  First-up in the series is Foley.

Foley is named for one of seven brothers – John Foley – who came from Canada in the early 1880′s. It became the county seat of Benton County in 1902, after a battle with Sauk Rapids.

Mayor Gary Gruba says the town of just over 2,600 is a great place to live and work. He says there’s a development of new homes on the north side of Foley.

Gruba says they have just a small street construction project this summer on 4th Avenue South.

Gruba says Foley is a great place to come and play.  He says the town is very proud of their outdoor pool. The pool is officially opening for the season tomorrow (Wednesday).
