MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Police say a young boy has died after he was struck by a stray bullet while sleeping on a couch at a Minneapolis home Tuesday.

Authorities say the child, five or six years old, was sleeping on a couch when he was hit about 8:30 a.m. Adults in the home called 911 and the boy was rushed to North Memorial Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

One adult in the home was injured by fragments or material deflected by the gunshot.

The home is about 20 blocks from the house where 3-year-old Terrell Mayes was killed by a stray bullet six months ago.
