ST. CLOUD - Local teachers sometimes spend hundreds of their own dollars for school supplies in the classroom.

In an effort to help, the District 742 Local Education and Activities Foundation (LEAF) is kicking off its "Adopt a Classroom Project" for this year.

Supporters can adopt a classroom by making a $250 donation for classroom supplies in the St. Cloud Area School District. Businesses, individuals or groups can choose to adopt a specific classroom in the district, or make a $250 donation and allow the District to choose a classroom randomly.

Last year, the St. Cloud community adopted 91 classrooms and contributed over $22,000 for school supplies. This is LEAF's sixth year of the Adopt a Classroom project, which has spread $80,000 to 320 classrooms.
