HASTINGS (AP) — A Minnesota truck driver has been sentenced to a year in jail for a crash that killed two drivers and an unborn child and released thousands of bees two years ago.

The Dakota County Attorney's office says 38-year-old Jason Styrbicky of Buffalo also will be on probation for up to 10 years.

Styrbicky also will serve 40 hours of community service each year he is on probation. He will have to pay restitution.

A judge found Styrbicky guilty of three counts of criminal vehicular homicide and one count of careless driving.

Authorities say Styrbicky rammed into the rear of two cars in Lakeville, crushing them between his truck and another truck carrying bees.

Styrbicky told an investigator he was trying to retrieve an energy drink can when the crash happened.
