The Yankees defeated the Twins 6-3 Monday night behind the pitching of veteran Andy Pettitte.  Pettitte threw 7 shutout innings with 7 hits allowed to get the win and improve to 5-3.  Liam Hendriks allowed 8 hits, 4 homeruns, and 6 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings to take the loss and drop to 1-8.  Pedro Florimon went 2-4 with a solo homerun for the Twins.  Chris Parmelee hit a 2-run triple for the Twins.

The Twins are 64-90 and will host the Yankees again tonight at 7:10, pregame on WJON at 6:40.  Righthander Esmerling Vasquez (0-2) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Phil Hughes (16-12) toes the rubber for the Yankees.

The Twins also activated relief pitcher Matt Capps from the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury.  He's been on the disabled list since July 17.  Capps has 14 saves in 15 opportunities this season.
