The Twins lost 3-0 at home to the New York Yankees Sunday afternoon.  Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixiera hit back to back homeruns against the Twins in the 7th inning.  Granderson's homerun was an inside the park homerun.  Ivan Nova threw 7 shutout innings with 5 hits allowed to get the win and improve to 13-4.  Joe Mauer was 3-4 and Danny Valencia went 2-4 for Minnesota.

Nick Blackburn started the game and threw 1 1/3 innings with 4 walks allowed.  He left the game early with a strained right forearm.  Phil Dumatrait took the loss in relief for the Twins.

Minnesota is 55-71 and is 13 games back of Detroit for first place in the American League Central.  The Twins host Baltimore to begin a 4-game series at Target Field tonight at 7:10, pregame on WJON at 6:40.  Righthander Carl Pavano (6-9) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and lefthander Zach Britten (6-9) toes the rubber for the Orioles.
