The Twins lost 8-1 Friday night at home against the N.Y. Yankees.  Russell Martin hit a pair of homeruns and Mark Teixiera had 2 hits and 3 RBIs for the Yankees.  Kevin Slowey allowed 6 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings to take the loss.  Trevor Plouffe hit a solo homerun accounting for the lone Twins run.

Minnesota falls to 54-70 and is 12 games back of Detroit for first place in the American League Central.  The Twins host the Yankees again tonight at 6:10, pregame on WJON at 5:35.
