UNDATED - Xcel Energy reminds you to clear your gas meters free from ice and snow.

The accumulation of ice and snow can lead to gas buildup inside your home.  Melting snow and ice from the roof and in the trees can drip on meters, then refreeze, increasing the potential for a meter malfunction.

It's also recommended that you maintain a clean path to the meter to allow easy access in the event of an emergency.
