MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Xcel Energy says fewer than 3,000 customers remain without power after last weekend's severe storms.

The Minneapolis-based utility says crews have restored service to over 600,000 customers in Minnesota and western Wisconsin since Friday.

And Xcel Energy says it expects service will be restored to the rest by Wednesday night except for homes and other buildings with damaged service masts. Since homeowners own the masts, not the utility, licensed electricians must be hired to repair them before service can be restored.
