SARTELL -- Sartell officials still have their hopes set in building a new Community Center within the next few years.

Plans to build the new facility began in 2013, but progress has moved slowly since.

City Administrator Mary Degiovanni says staff has been working on a new proposed timeline that should see groundbreaking on the facility in June 2016.

She says the city is still in the early stages of the project. The preliminary schedule has city staff finding an Architect this month and possibly fundraising for the facility in February.

No site has been chosen to build the Community Center, however early plans have proposed it be built next to city hall.

The new building would also include a senior center, multi-use space and a small library.

Any decisions on the Community Center would still need to be approved by the City Council.
