Woman Plunges Onto I-35W in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A portion of Interstate 35W near downtown Minneapolis was closed after officials said a woman jumped to her death during the Tuesday morning commute.

State Patrol Lieutenant Tiffany Nielson says a witness saw the woman climb a fence and jump from the 46th Street bridge onto southbound lanes at about 7:09 a.m.

Nielson says the woman struck a Honda SUV and was killed. The driver of the Honda wasn't hurt but was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Two lanes of the interstate were closed as investigators reconstructed the scene.
