ST. PAUL (AP) - St. Paul police say a woman crossing a street was struck and killed by a minivan.

Investigators say the woman was in the crosswalk when she was struck just after 4 p.m. Tuesday as she was leaving work on St. Paul's East Side. She died at the scene.

The man driving the minivan stopped and is cooperating with investigators. Police spokesman Steve Linders says the man showed no signs of impairment.

St. Paul has recorded at least 65 crashes between vehicles and pedestrians this year. Three have been fatal.

St. Paul police are in the midst of a "Stop for Me" public awareness campaign to remind drivers that they must stop for pedestrians who indicate they intend to cross at any corner.
