Woman Charged with Child Endangerment in DWI Crash

ANOKA  (AP) - An Anoka County woman is charged with child endangerment and drunken driving in a crash that ignited her vehicle while she and her 8-year-old son were inside.

Witnesses told police they saw Tonia Dockter's car swerving before it crashed and careened into a ditch in Oak Grove Township Saturday. Authorities say Dockter repeatedly tried to drive the vehicle out of the ditch, but it ignited while she and her son were locked inside. Witnesses tried to help, but the boy jumped into the back seat, unlocked the doors and got out. Prosecutors say bystanders dragged Dockter out of the car.

Police say Dockter admitted drinking alcohol and said she was on her way to pick up her other child in St. Francis.
