ST. CLOUD -- A woman is in trouble with the law after leading police on a short chase through St. Cloud today (Thursday).

Police say an officer was driving westbound over the University Bridge at approximately 11:30 a.m. when he noticed a car tailgating at a dangerously close distance. The officer activated rear lights to get the driver to back off, but was unsuccessful.

The officer pulled over to let the vehicle pass and then activated lights to conduct a traffic stop. The driver, 27-year-old Lisa Hamre of St. Cloud, failed to stop and allegedly led police westbound on University Drive and County Road 75 at speeds of up to 60 miles-per-hour.

The driver eventually stopped at the intersection of Waite Avenue and County Road 75 and was arrested without incident.

Because of her erratic driving, police took Hamre to the hospital for an evaluation and was later booked on a charge of fleeing police.
