ST. CLOUD -- A small fire broke out in an east side St. Cloud apartment earlier this (Sunday) afternoon.

St. Cloud Fire Battalion Chief Leon Faust says crews were called to the fire at 401 14th Ave. SE shortly before 2:00 p.m.

Crews were able to contain the fire and it only damaged the one apartment unit. Two people were in the apartment, a woman and child, both escaped the fire without injuries.

Faust says the cause of the fire was related to unattended cooking. The fire caused about $55,000 in damages.

The Red Cross is assisting those involved in the fire.
