WINDY WEATHER -- Hold onto your hat -- it's windy in Central Minnesota. Wind advisories posted through Tuesday afternoon. Expect winds of 30-to-45 miles-an-hour at times.

 

LONG RANGE WEATHER -- Weather forecasters say the start of Minnesota's winter will be cooler and wetter than normal. The folks at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration saying La Nina -- with its cooler ocean water -- cold impact us again this winter.

 

SOMALI VIGIL -- Dozens of the St. Cloud area Somali community, gathering at Lake George over the weekend. The vigil -- to remember the victims of a truck bombing in Mogadishu that killed over 300 and hurt another 400.

 

ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR -- A new activities director for the Sartell-St. Stephen school district. Ryan Hauge takes over for Jim Michaud at the end of November.

 

DOWNTOWN LEADER -- A new leader for St. Cloud's Downtown Council. Jolene Foss takes over as executive director in December. She replaces Pegg Gustafson.

 

HEATING ASSISTANCE -- The Tri-County Action Program -- or Tri-CAP -- offering heating assistance for people who can't pay their energy bills. You need to qualify for the help on an application. Last year, Tri-CAP provided about $3-million dollars in help to 3,000 residents in the tri-county area.

 

HIGHWAY 75 RESURFACING -- Stearns County's holding a public meeting Tuesday to talk about next year's Highway 75 resurfacing project between Waite Park and St. Joe. That project will involve extensive traffic control, lane shifts, lane closures and temporary signals.

 

LAETTNER-BASKETBALL CAMP -- Former Timberwolf Christian Laettner, in town last weekend for a kids basketball camp at Sauk Rapids' Mississippi Heights Elementary. His number one tip for kids -- catch the basketball with two hands.
