MOTORCYCLIST KILLED -- Police say it was 59-year-old James Rouleau of Clear Lake who died when his motorcycle veered into the ditch on Highway 10 Friday afternoon. Police say he was thrown from his bike and he wasn't wearing a helmet.

 

SCHOOL BOARD CHAIR RESIGNS -- The chairwoman of the Sartell-St. Stephen School Board is resigning. Michelle Meyer and her family are moving outside the school district's borders, so she's leaving the school board in mid-August.

 

SARTELL-ST. STEPHEN SCHOOLS SURVEY -- Meanwhile, high marks for Sartell-St. Stephen Schools. 95% of the respondents to a recent community survey give the schools excellent or good marks. Less than half-a-percent rated the schools as poor.

 

SARTELL CVB -- A new name for the Sartell Convention and Visitors Bureau -- "The Sartell Hospitality and Visitor Service." Part of the effort to localize the organization after they split from the St. Cloud Convention and Visitors Bureau at the beginning of the year.

 

OLD LOG BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS -- Improvements are coming soon to that old log building in Sauk Rapids Municipal Park. Add bathrooms, replace the roof, windows and doors, and more. The $186,000 pricetag paid for with half-cent sales tax dollars.

 

SAUK RAPIDS -- 2ND AVENUE SOUTH -- Sauk Rapids is also getting ready for a BIG road construction project. The city is reconstructing 2nd Avenue South this summer between 1st Street South and Benton Drive. A second phase of the quarter-million dollar project will include side streets in that area.
