PAYNESVILLE EVACUATIONS -- Dozens of homes in the Paynesville area -- evacuated -- after a semi hauling hazardous chemicals caught fire this morning. No one was hurt, but 70-100 homes were evacuated after police went door-to-door.

 

PAYNESVILLE FIGHT -- 37-year-old Justin Brown of Paynesville -- facing felony assault charges after a fight that left the other guy's ear nearly torn off. Brown says it was self-defense.

 

SEX OFFENDER RETURNS -- St. Cloud Police say a 30-year-old pedophile is moving back to St. Cloud. 30-year-old James Forbes the Second is moving back to the 100 Block of East St.Germain Street on Monday. A community notification meeting's scheduled for August 28th.

 

MURDER SUSPECT EXTRADITED -- St. Cloud murder suspect Cheryl Albert has been extradited from California to stand trial in Benton County. The 24-year-old woman, charged in the killing of a St. Cloud market owner two years ago.

 

SPORTS STORE BURGLARY -- Police arrested 24-year-old Joseph McDermott of St. Cloud, alleging he tried to break into Centennial Sports earlier this week. Court records allege he tried breaking in while the owner was still working in the store and called police.

 

NEW JUDGES -- The Governor, appointing two Stearns County Attorneys to judgeships. Matthew Quinn will replace Vicki E. Landwehr and be chambered in Milaca. Shan Wang is filling a new judgeship and will chamber in St. Cloud.

 

NEW CROSSROADS STORES -- New ways to spend your money at the Crossroads Center mall in St. Cloud. A new Starbucks opening inside Target. Taqueria Los Chavez opening in the food court. And children's clothing store Carter's -- opening in the former PacSun location.

 

TUTOR SHORTAGE -- There's a tutor shortage in Central Minnesota. So the Minnesota Reading and Math Corps pay an educational stipend and in some cases, health insurance. Looking for 20 reading and math tutors for the new school year.

 

CROSS-COUNTRY TRIP -- He rode his motorcycle over 10,000 miles over 18 days and 48 states. But Mike Spaude of St. Cloud raised over $22-thousand dollars for the Veterans Home in Sauk Centre.

 

RICE FAMILY FUN DAY -- It's Rice's weekend to celebrate! Rice Family Fun Day Saturday with all sorts of events, including the big parade at 3 and street dance starting at 6.
