Winter Storm Warning Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday

National Weather Service

UNDATED – A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect from 3:00 p.m. today (Tuesday) through 6:00 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday).

Periods of heavy wet snow, sleet, and freezing rain are possible.  Sustained winds of 15 to 25 miles an hour may occur.  Snowfall amounts of 8 to 14 inches north of a line from Willmar to Cambridge.

Heavy snow and strong winds will cause significant problems for travelers, and wet snow could cause a few tree branches to break leading to power outages.  Sleet and freezing rain may cause slick road conditions as well.

WJON meteorologist Mandy Thalhuber says the heaviest snow is expected to arrive this evening.
