WINONA (AP) - A Winona woman is scheduled to make her first court appearance next month on charges of driving drunk and striking two pedestrians.

Prosecutors say 20-year-old Michaela Burton had a blood alcohol of 0.11 when she hit a man and woman in a crosswalk in Winona May 17. Burton is charged with two felony counts of criminally operating a vehicle resulting in great bodily harm and two misdemeanors.

Witnesses say the impact sent the man flying into the air. The woman was knocked to the ground. The couple, both 20, suffered minor injuries. Burton is due in court Aug. 19. She told police she was unable to stop in time to avoid striking the couple.
