Wildfire Burns Nine Acres in Watab Township

SAUK RAPIDS – Three area fire departments responded to a wildfire yesterday (Monday) afternoon.

Sauk Rapids Fire Chief Tony Hommerding says the call came in just after 4:30 p.m. for a fire in Watab Township near 10th Avenue Northwest.

About nine acres burned, including some pine trees in the that area.

The Sauk Rapids fire department was assisted by the departments from Sartell and Rice, as well as the Department of Natural Resources.
