ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Wild completed a trade to send goalie Niklas Backstrom to the Calgary Flames for veteran wing David Jones.

The 38-year-old Backstrom owns the franchise record for career wins with 194 and single-season records for wins (37) and shutouts (8).

Backstrom has not appeared in a game for the Wild since getting replaced by current goalie Devan Dubnyk after a 5-7-3 record in 19 games last season.

Jones, 31, is in his ninth NHL season and has 102 goals and 86 assists in 446 games with the Flames and Colorado Avalanche. This season, Jones has nine goals and six assists in 59 games.
