The Minnesota Wild will put a recent hot streak to the test when they visit the nation's capital on Thursday night to take on the Washington Capitals.

Cathedral graduate Nate Schmidt has received a ton of playing time for the Caps on defense this season. In 11 games played, Schmidt has a +1 rating and three assists on the year.

The Wild have won three straight games, and six out of seven, to improve to 9-4-3 on the year. They topped Calgary 5-1 Tuesday night at the Xcel Energy Center.

Washington is 8-7-0 on the year and topped the New York Islanders 4-0 in their last game on Tuesday night.
