The Wild couldn't keep up with Dallas, who is playing for their playoff life.

The Dallas Stars blew a two goal lead but overwhelmed the Minnesota Wild in the third period for a 5-2 win on Friday night in Dallas. The loss snaps a seven game winning streak for Minnesota.

Ray Whitney scored on a power play for Dallas at 4:14 of the first period for a 1-0 Stars lead. Tomas Vincour's goal at 7:31 made it 2-0 Dallas until the Wild's Devin Setoguchi got Minnesota on the board with just over a minute left in the first.

The Wild were able to tie the game on a Jared Spurgeon goal on a power play late in the second period, but Minnesota could not score in the third period while the Stars scored three for the 5-2 win.

The Wild are now 20-11-2 and have 42 points, two points behind Vancouver. The Canucks have won six straight games.

The third period featured a number of fights and lots of physical play in front of the net. Minnesota and Dallas will both be in the same division when the NHL is realigned after this season, along with Chicago, Winnipeg, Colorado, St. Louis and Nashville.
