The Wild struggled to find offense Monday night in a 3-0 shutout loss to the Blues in St. Louis. Minnesota had only ten total shots on goal through two periods of play.

Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom allowed a goal just 1:20 into the first period, then another at the 13:38 mark to put his team in a 2-0 hole at the first intermission. The Wild were outshot 12-4 in the opening period.

Niether team scored in the second period, and St. Louis outshot Minnesota 8-6.

Alexander Steen scored his second goal of the night, and 19th of the season, at 18:38 of the third to give the Blues a 3-0 lead and seal the win.

With St. Louis playing a more defensive style in the third period, the Wild outshot the Blues 12-1 in the final period to end the game up 22-21 in the shot category.
