Wild Run Over Red Wings Wednesday
The WIld won their fourth straight game Wednesday night in Detroit.
The Wild continued on their midseason roll Wednesday night with a 4-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings Wednesday night at Joe Louis Arena. The Wild sit atop the Northwest Division and have won four games in a row.
Devin Setoguchi scored on a beautiful feed from Matt Cullen just over two minutes into the first period to give the Wild a 1-0 lead that would hold until the first intermission.
A power play goal from Kyle Brodziak gave Minnesota a 2-0 lead at 3:51 of the second period. His fifth goal of the season was assisted by Ryan Suter and Jared Spurgeon.
Detroit got on the scoreboard when Gustav Nyquist poke-checked his way to a breakaway and beat goalie Niklas Backstron five-hole.
The Wild bounced right back with back-to-back goals to establish a three goal lead. Mikko Koivu scored his seven goal of the season, assisted by rookies Charlie Coyle and Jason Zucker, at 10:49. Setoguchi followed with his second goal of the game, this one on a power play, at 17:15 of the second to make the score 4-1.
The Red Wings scored their second goal of the night on a power play with 13 seconds remaining. Final shots on goal favored Detroit 38-19.
