The Minnesota Wild could not keep up the momentum of a high-flying first period in a loss at Calgary Saturday.

Minnesota's offense failed to appear north of the border Saturday in a 3-1 loss to the Calgary Flames. The Wild outshot Calgary 13-7 in a fast paced opening period but only found the back of the net once on the night.

Rookie forward Charlie Coyle's goal on a beautiful centering pass from Pierre-Marc Bouchard tied the game at one about halfway through the first period.

Neither team scored in the second period, with Calgary outshooting Minnesota 11-7 in the period.

Calgary scored a pair of goals in the third period. Matt Stajan pounded home a rebound off of a Jerome Iginla shot at 7:19 and scored again on an empty-netter with :09 left in regulation.

Minnesota falls to 8-7-2 with the loss and will host Calgary Tuesday night at Xcel Energy Center.
