Wild Crush Colorado In Saturday Matinee
The Minnesota Wild established a season-high in goals for a second straight game Saturday.
The Wild jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back in a 6-3 win at Colorado on Saturday afternoon. Devin Setoguchi had two goals and an assist for Minnesota in the win.
The Wild scored three goals before the halfway point of the first period. Ryan Suter started the scoring on the power play at 4:16, followed by an even strength goal by Setoguchi at 6:00. Cal Clutterbuck's goal at 9:04 made it 3-0 and forced the Avs to use their timeout to regroup.
The Avalanche scored a goal to cut the lead to 3-1 but Kyle Brodziak scored on a rebound to make the score 4-1 heading into the first intermission.
A shaky second period by Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom allowed Colorado to cut the Minnesota lead to 4-3 halfway through the period. However, Pierre Marc-Bouchard scored before the end of period two to make the score 5-3 at the second intermission.
Setoguchi got his second goal of the game to cap the scoring for the Wild. The Avs got a late goal to make the final 6-4.
The Wild are at Vancouver Monday night. With 32 points Minnesota is in fifth place in the West.
