A welfare check by police ended with the arrest of a Saint Cloud man Saturday night. Police were called to the area of Highway 23 East and 14th Avenue Northeast where they contacted 23-year old Zachary Haaf, who during the investigation, was found to be under the influence of alcohol and possibly narcotics.
Haaf swore at the officers and tried to push away and was placed in handcuffs.
Shortly after, Haaf attempted to head-butt an officer and was arrested.
He was taken to Saint Cloud Hospital to be evaluated and checked for minor injuries he sustained on his own in the back of the squad car.
During the transport to the Emergency Room Haaf made numerous threats on the officers’ family’s and threatened to kill the officer. No officers were hurt in the incident. He was charged with disorderly conduct and 4th degree assault.
