DETROIT LAKES - WJON's parent company has bought We Fest.

Townsquare Media announced this (Monday) morning that they've acquired the world's largest country music and camping festival in Detroit Lakes. We Fest was founded in 1983 at the Soo Pass Ranch. About 45,000 people attended the 2014 event each day.

Townsquare Media Co-Founder and Executive Vice President Alex Berkett says the company already owns several other music festivals.

We Fest 2015 is scheduled for August 6th through the 8th and will feature Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, Dierks Bentley, Hank Williams Junior, and Jake Owen. Berkett says, because the line-up for next year is already set, there won't be many changes in 2015. But, Townsquare Media is hoping to grow the festival.

Beside six stations here in St. Cloud, Townsquare Media also owns radio stations in Duluth, Rochester, Owatonna, and Faribault.
