This past couple of years I've made tons of changes in the foods I eat.  I've added spinach, and healthy vegetables to almost every dinner that I create for myself and my family. I watch my portion controls; proteins, carbs, fats. Throughout the days, I typically eat a healthy breakfast, mostly drinking shakes and eating health bars, simply because it makes me feel so much better starting with a well balanced meal.

SNACK TRAPS

Snacking?  Wow!  Have my snacking habits changed. I used to purchase 2 or 3 12 packs of pop for us, as well as buying chips, I used to bring home at least two bags of chips a week, plus crackers. Not only that, I was a baking fool!  I loved to bake. I still do occasionally, but it was a regular Sunday activity for me to bake homemade cookies, muffins, or breads for the family. All of that has turned into maybe once every few months. But there are still a few things that I haven't overcome.

THE SNACK TRAP

  • AVOIDING THE SUGAR TRAP-According to my friends at Rejuv Medical, sugar is a terrible thing to snack on. Refined sugar is a catalyst for fat storage, so the have sent me a note to tell me to avoid those snacks. They not only have no health benefits, but it never satisfies. It just keeps you hungry, which will completely overturn any weight loss results you're looking for.
  • WATCH OUT FOR EVEN HEALTHY EXTRA CALORIES-Even when you're snacking on healthy food, you've got to keep in mind how many calories you're taking in. Almonds are healthy, but if you are downing 800 extra calories in them you'll quickly gain weight!  Point Taken!
  • PROTEINS AND HEALTHY FATS ARE A GOOD THING! -Fill up on proteins and fats.  I agree with them! If I have a snack that contains proteins and fats I always feel so much better.

I think I've learned some valuable lessons from the great tips I'm getting from Rejuv. Although I'm eating healthier, I still eat TOO much healthy food at times.  I'm trying to learn that the feeling that I consider "hunger" may in fact just be fat burning..So when you get that feeling, just remember, you might be burning fat.  Let it burn!!!
