Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11AM on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Walter L. Wesselman, 82, who died Friday, January 26, 2018 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Cloud. Rev. Thomas Knoblach will officiate and burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8PM on Wednesday at the 2806Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, 324 2nd AVENUE SOUTH, SAUK RAPIDS 56379 and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be prayed at 4:30PM on Wednesday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.

Walter was born on August 26, 1935 to Louis and Clara (Hunck) Wesselman. He was the seventh child in the family. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1953. Following graduation, Walter proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge, Walter continued his education by attending St. Cloud State University. He was employed by several companies during his lifetime including: Department of State out of Washington D.C. where he worked in communications and lived in Pakistan, Vietnam, and Ghana. Later, he was employed by Southern Bell, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies until his retirement in 1999 and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Walter was an avid card player, especially bridge and cribbage, actually any card game was fine with him. He was also a member of several different groups after his retirement. Walter enjoyed water color and oil painting, but his great love was his motorcycle, while still finding time to do volunteer work for his church and local rescue mission in Albuquerque. There was a large passion in Walter’s life to travel and see the world, he took cruises to different locations with relatives and friends. He somehow managed to visit and see 70 different countries and always looked forward in anticipation to his next jaunt. Walter completed most of his “Bucket List.”

Walter is survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Clara Wesselman; siblings, Louise Spaulding, Rita Lundstrom, Cletus Wesselman, Elaine Imholte, Imelda Osgood, Ralph Wesselman; aunt: Bertha Hunck; niece, Dianne Goenner; nephews, Charles Spaulding, Jerry Wesselman, Craig Wesselman, Ralph Wesselman Jr.; and great nephew, Patrick Kramer;

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred In Care of Walter Wesselman to Quiet Oaks Hospice House (5537 Galaxy Rd, St Cloud, MN 56301).
