Funeral services will be 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids for Wallace “Wally” J. Brown, 89 of St. Cloud who passed away at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids on Thursday. Rev. Don Wilke will officiate and burial will be with full military honors at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls on Wednesday. Friends and relatives may visit after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.

Wallace James Brown was born on February 5, 1927 in Clearwater to Lucille Brown and Douglas Brigham. He served his country in the United States Navy from February of 1945 until March of 1946. On November 7, 1953 he was united in marriage to Marcella “Marcy” Philipsek at the Cathedral of St. Paul. The two were long time members of the Church of St. Augustine in St. Cloud. Wally worked as a Dietary Aide at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center for many years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage and was a great pool player. Wally was a great cook, with goulash and oatmeal raisin cookies as his specialty. He was a quiet and stoic man, who always carried a twinkle in his eye and he was very thoughtful and deliberate with his words. Wally had a good sense of humor and will be remembered for his quick wit.

Survivors include his wife Marcy of St. Cloud; sons and daughters, Kevin (Dale) of College Park, MD, Carol of Sauk Rapids, Bruce of Sauk Rapids, Marlene (David) Hay of Centennial, CO, Lori (Kevin) Christoffer of Lakeville and Jim (Beth) of Elk River; sister, Rosemary Lucas of Brookings, SD; twelve grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Chuck Hoffman and grandson Matthew Brown.
