Wallace T. “Wally” Spychala, 87, Sauk Rapids and Remer

Wally SpychalaMemorial services celebrating the life of Wallace T. “Wally” Spychala, 87, of Sauk Rapids and Remer will be at 12 Noon on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud. Wally passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community Center in St. Cloud. Inurnment with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery, Sauk Rapids.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and after 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m. and the Sauk Rapids American Legion Post #254 will pray at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Wally was born on November 12, 1927 in Waite Park, Minnesota to the late Frank and Olivia (Pyka) Spychala. He served in the US Army during both WWII and the Korean War. He married Shirley Pearson on July 27, 1957 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. Wally was employed as a salesman for Carnation Company, Pacific Toy Company and in Radio Advertising. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Sauk Rapids American Legion Post #254 and mentored with the Boy Scouts of America.

Wally enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Wally is survived by his children, Michael of St. Cloud, Todd (Jennifer) of St. Cloud, Jane (Tim) Broda of Sartell; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; very close friend and traveling companion, Diane Leder of Remer; son-in-law, David Ruff of Sauk Rapids; and brothers and sisters, Phyllis (Al) Vogt of Sauk Rapids, Joyce Robak of Waite Park, Rocky (Mary) of Sauk Rapids, Carol Lindt of St. Cloud, Gary (Judy) of Silverdale, Washington, Sandy (Robert) Sauer of Waite Park, Russ (Brenda) of Waite Park, Charlene (Gary) Skeate of St. Cloud.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley in 1995; daughter, Julie Ruff in 2011; brothers and sisters, Mary Mae Roeder, LeRoy, Frank “Jim” and infant, Dolores.
