WAITE PARK -- Plans for a proposed bingo hall in Waite Park have been put on hold.

During tonight's (Tuesday) public hearing, the Waite Park Planning Commission voted to table the request of a Conditional Use Permit for Granite City Bingo.

Several emails addressing lack of parking on the proposed site had neighboring businesses and residents concerned this would be a major issue.

The Minnesota Fishing Museum and Hall of Fame, Inc., in Little Falls approached the city about the property over a month ago with plans to own and operate the bingo hall to help fund the museum.

The board will revisit the request next month after staff has had more time to work with the applicant on how to solve the parking situation.

Granite City Bingo is planning to open in the former Pryamid Beauty Supply building in the strip mall at 57 3rd Street Northeast.

This would be the first dedicated bingo hall in Waite Park and the first in the St. Cloud Metro since the closure of the Bingo Emporium in 2015.
