ST. CLOUD -- A Waite Park man was arrested after he allegedly stole a few items from a local pawn shop yesterday (Tuesday).

The incident happened at about 9:30 a.m. at the Security Coin and Pawn Shop at 623 West St. Germain Street.

St. Cloud Police Sergeant Jason Burke says 54-year-old Gary Korsmo had taken two gold necklaces, valued at $2,500, and left the store without paying for them.

The store owner chased down the suspect to prevent Korsmo from leaving the scene in a vehicle. Korsmo pushed the store owner away and continued to flee on foot.

Officers were able to locate Korsmo near 8th Avenue West St. Germain Street. He was arrested and the necklaces recovered and returned.

Korsmo is being held at the Stearns County Jail. He faces charges of felony theft and 5th degree assault.
