WAITE PARK -- After months of construction, Waite Park officials will finally be able to use their council chambers.

The room has undergone several improvements to the desk lighting, audio/visual and security systems.

Waite Park City Administrator Shaunna Johnson says the improvements will not only bring a better sense of security to staff but to audience.

"I think the upgrades on top of the reconfiguration of staff has really be a nice addition. It creates more security for not only staff and council but to the audience as well."

Johnson says there are still a few minor pieces to finish up over the next month, included adding a glass door to the council chamber.

"We have big wooden doors and we are going to replace them with glass doors, so we can better look out in the hall and if we ever have an incident we can close and lock them if we need to for safety."

Johnson says they will have their first meeting in the renovated council chambers on Monday.

This is the second room to recently have a major upgrade at city hall. Two years ago Waite Park made security upgrades to their administrative office.
