WAITE PARK -- Waite Park has named their three finalists for their new Planning and Community Development director position.

Therese Haffner, Jonathon Noerenberg and Andrew Mack are the final three who will be interviewed later this week for the position.

Interviews will be conducted by the City Council, Planning Commission and Staff Thursday. The city council will approve a conditional job offer to one of the three at a special meeting later that afternoon.

The council approved the hiring for the new staff position last month.

Hiring for the position has been in the works since building inspector Bill Barber retired in October.

City Administrator Shaunna Johnson says new staff person would be in charge of handling the planning and zoning and economic development needs of the city.

The position would pay about $60,000 to $78,000 per year and has been budgeted for 2015.

She says they hope to officially hire someone within the next few months.

Sauk Rapids, Sartell and St. Cloud currently have a Planning and Community Development director on their staff.

Johnson announced the interview process during last week's State of the City Address.
