The Waite Park 12AAA baseball team is headed to the national tournament after winning the Midwest Plains Regional tournament in Bemidji. The national tournament takes place from August 3rd to the 10th in Branson, Missouri.

The Waite Park team includes Logan Bauer, Tate Buckentine, Ben Eiynck, Trevor Fleege, Tommy Gohman, Hunter Heidgerkin, Cooper Kosiba, Calen O'Connell, Jon Sufka, Jack Theisen, Tanner Tomasek and Ty Zack.

The team is coached by Scott Gohman, Bill Buckentine, Scott Sufka and Dennis Eiynck.

Waite Park topped Grand Forks 7-4 in their first regional game, with Hunter Heidgerken picking up the win and Trevor Fleege hitting a home run to pace the offense.

The second game saw Waite Park pick up a 5-3 win over Iowa. Logan Bauer was credited with the win and Fleege, Calen O'Connell and Cooper Kosiba belting home runs.

Waite Park finished up pool play by defeating Bismarck 11-9. Tate Buckentine earned the win on the mound and Ben Eiynck and Kosiba had home runs.

A 5-4 win over Bemidji advanced WP to the championship game. Heidgerken picked up his second win, with Jack Theisen and Tanner Tomasek hitting home runs.

Tommy Gohman pitched Waite Park to the title over Bismarck in a 4-0 win. Tomasek went deep for the second time in the regional to lead the offense.

The team is holding a burger fundraiser at the Ultimate Sports Bar and Grill in Waite Park on Sunday, July 30th from 4-7 p.m. to help raise money for their trip to Missouri.
