SARTELL -- An unlikely gym location is using computer technology to help you reach your fitness goals without needed a trainer.

Just inside Country Manor in Sartell is a small gym many would never think to use.

Jenn Garding is the Assist Director of Rehab at Country Manor. She says they wanted to provide something the community could use.

"The primary thing we were thinking about was what does this community need? People want to stay fit and be healthier in general," says Garding.

The Flex Tech system houses eight basic machines that use technology to provide you with personal training without the use of an actual trainer.

"With the technology we have the virtual trainer promotes the correct technique when it comes to lifting weights," says Garding.

Garding says when clients first come in they're first shown how to use the equipment then set up with their virtual trainer program.

"You take a Flex Tech USB drive and plug it into the computer and from there we can set up the different exercises for all the machines that we have," says Garding.

The virtual trainer is designed to correct bad habits many of us learn while working out.

Instead of doing your reps as fast as you can, the program makes you focus on slow and controlled movements.

"Most people are of the mindset of the faster you go the better it is and more you can get done. The virtual trainer is there to help you workout more efficiently," says Garding.

The design of the virtual trainer is to follow a blue box that moves up and down as you go through your movement.

Garding says the clients have responded well to the program and it has helped many reach their fitness goals.

"It seems to work well with the members we have. I can always check a program and see how they are doing or if they are changing weight or not doing their full range of motion," says Garding.

The cost to use the facility and Flex Tech program is $40.00 per month and you can get set up by visiting the Health Care Center at Country Manor.

The gym is opened Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
