September 28, 1924 - March 28, 2017

 

Virginia Peschl, age 92, of Foley, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Foley Nursing Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Duelm. The Rev. Virgil Helmin will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Parish Prayers at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to services Saturday. Service with Dignity provided by Foley Funeral Home.

Virginia Margaret Peschl was born September 28, 1924 in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota to George and Marie (Schmit) Mehrwerth. She married Warren Peschl Sr. on March 6, 1943 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids. The couple lived and farmed in Benton County. Virginia lovingly cared for her 11 children but also worked at Fingerhut and as a home health aide for Benton County. She volunteered at the St. Cloud Mission Office and was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, Secular Franciscans, and Crosier Apostolate. Virginia loved to dance and play cards. She enjoyed handicrafts and did a lot of sewing, crocheting and making rugs out of plastic bags. Virginia will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor and telling jokes.

She is survived by her children: Karen (Roger) Kackley of Foley, Warren Jr. (Judy) of Foley, Judy (Dennis) Schmit of Sauk Rapids, Diane (Gene) David of Foley, Mary (Dave) Plafcan of Sauk Rapids, Donna (Jeff) Bond of Anchorage, AK, Pat (Ken) Abfalter of Foley, Brian (Tina) of Foley, and John (Brenda) of Foley; 37 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; siblings: Donna Andes of West Virginia, Lou (Jim) Schwieters of Waite Park, Jerome (Glenice) Mehrwerth of Sauk Rapids, and Mar Jo (Dennis) Keller of Breckenridge; as well as many other relatives and friends. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren; daughters: Bobbi Iverson and Beth Deppa; sister, Isabelle "Honey" Stang; brothers, Arthur "Butch" and Floyd "Swede."
