Graveside services will be at a later date at Millington-Newark Cemetery in Millington, IL for Violet “Vi” B. Courtright, 94 of St. Cloud, MN who passed away on Sunday at St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud.

Violet Beatrice Courtright (“Vi”) was born June 29, 1921 in rural Proper, MN of Fillmore County to Magnus and Caroline Krogh.

She spent her childhood in Minneapolis, MN. Ice Skating was a favorite activity in her youth which carried over into a love of watching professional ice skating on television in later years. Her father once flooded the front yard at their home so that Vi had a fine place to skate. Vi graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in St. Cloud, Mn and eventually got her first “real” job in a photography studio there.
In 1942, she met Ned Courtright on a visit with an aunt to Illinois. As those were war years, Ned went off to the U.S. Army until 1945. At the end of the war, Vi and Ned got back together and were married December 29, 1946 in St. Cloud, MN.

They made their home in Millbrook, Illinois for 42 years. Vi worked in the grocery store they owned for a few years with a partner. Later Vi worked in a garden center in Millbrook. She enjoyed working with flowers and plants and visiting with the locals. Later she became the postmaster of Millbrook. She found it challenging and took her job very seriously learning the regulations and helping her customers. Later she wrote “I had the honor of being the Postmaster at Millbrook Post Office from Oct '71 til Dec '85. All her life Vi loved to “hop in the car” with Ned and go; for short rides or long trips, you name it, Vi was known for being ready to go! After Ned passed away, Vi returned to St. Cloud.and lived there until her passing on July 26, 2015.

She is survived by her sister Doris Weis, nephews David (Mary Kaye) Weis, Dale (Mary Kay) Weis and Douglas (Merri)Weis and niece Karen Weis (Bruce Basch) as well as her late husband Ned's sister Donna Norem; nieces Sharon Skwerski, Helen(Bob) Johnson, Vicki Johnson, and Julie Lightfoot and nephews Wyn (Joan) Courtright and Rob(Diana) Norem; and many grand nieces and nephews.
