March 21, 1925 - May 21, 2015

 

Memorial Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2015 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids for Violet M. DuMont, age 90, who passed away Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Rev. Al Stangl will officiate and burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 2nd. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.

Violet was born March 21, 1925 in Wadena to Fred & Daisy (Kindred) Atkinson. She married James DuMont on July 25, 1945 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bluffton. They lived in Chicago, Fergus Falls for 14 years, and the last 33 years in St. Cloud. Violet was a homemaker and also worked at Herberger’s in St. Cloud. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Violet enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, embroidering, knitting and camping. She was an independent and sociable person. Violet was a great hostess and cook, and was known for her potato salad, peanut butter cookies and fudge. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved to read and donate the books when she was finished.

Survivors include her children, Sheryl (Kenneth) Mitchell of Clear Lake, Mary (Kenneth) Czech of St. Cloud, Donald (Angela) of Memphis, TN, Duane (Karen) of Clear Lake and Teresa (Gregory) Schwartz of Shakopee; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James on Nov. 28, 2000; sisters, Adeline Hagen, Mildred Johnson and Vivian Hepola; and brothers, Archie, LeRoy, Bernard and Burton Atkinson.
