Vikings Stadium Momentum Leaves Critics Disarmed

The Senate Jobs and Economic Development Committee moved the proposal forward Tuesday on a voice vote. It's due next in the Senate Finance Committee which could be its last stop before a Senate floor vote.

The House version of the $1 billion stadium proposal has cleared committees and could get a floor vote as early as Wednesday.

As the stadium plan picks up steam, opponents in the Legislature are wondering if they can stop what's starting to look like a juggernaut. But the Vikings are well-funded and have high-profile allies in business, labor and among prominent leaders, while opponents are disparate and span a wide ideological spectrum that doesn't lend itself to an organized pushback.
