The Minnesota Vikings signed former Oakland Raiders running back Latavius Murray early Thursday morning. The move likely closes the door on any potential Adrian Peterson return to the team.

Murray, 27, ran for 788 yards on 195 carries last season for Oakland and found the end zone 12 times. The three-year veteran had a career-high 1,066 yards in 2015.

The Vikings also re-signed cornerback Terrance Newman, 38, to a contract on Wednesday and gave receiver Adam Thielen a three-year extension.
