Vikings Sign Draft Picks; Start Training Camp Today

The Vikings signed the remaining unsigned draft picks including first round quarterback Christian Ponder Sunday.  Ponder was taken with the 12 overall pick in the April NFL draft and is expected to begin the season as the backup quarterback to veteran Donavan McNabb.  Ponder will be at camp today while McNabb cannot practice with the team until Thursday per the new collective bargaining agreement.

The Vikings also signed free agent defensive tackle Fred Evans Sunday.  The Vikings signed free agent receiver Michael Jenkins Saturday.  Jenkins played with new Viking Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave in Atlanta.  The Vikings have also started contract extension talks with linebacker Chad Greenway.

The first Viking practice is today from 3:00-4:35 at Minnesota State-Mankato.  The Vikings have practices in Mankato through Thursday August 11.
